Martin Giesen
Martin Giesen was born in Osnabruck, W. Germany in 1945. He is presently Assoc. Professor the Art at the Camrose Lutheran College, Camrose, Alberta. He studied at the University of Heidelberg where he received a Ph.D. in history of art in 1973. His undergraduate studies were completed between 1966 and 1970 at T.H. Bethel, Bielefeld, and Heidelberg College. Tiffin, Ohio and the Universitat Heidelberg. His professional work included: Assistant for Research and Education, 1970 – 1971, New York, at the Metropolitan Museum of Art; Assistant Professor of Art, 1973 – 1985 at the American University of Beirut; Faculty of Environmental Design (1985-1986) at the University of Petroleum and Minerals, Dhahran, Saudi Arabia. Martin Giesen had a number of exhibitions of work including many one man shows.

In 1984, a monograph, John Munroe, “Giesen’s Lebanon”, Rahani House, Beirut, 1984, was published. Martin Giesen’s work can be found in the National Collection, Beirut, Lebanon, (President’s Purchase 1982, 1983, 1984) and the Alberta Art Foundation, Purchase 1987.
